Vegas' South Point Casino Offers FREE Online Poker

The South Point Casino in Las Vegas adds online poker to its list of amenities. While the physical property at 9777 Las Vegas Blvd South on the Las Vegas Strip has offered live poker for years, the 2100-room property is new to online games.

South Point has 9 restaurants, 2,300 slot machines, table games, a health spa, a cinema, bingo room, bowling center and much more.

The online poker site allows South Point to sign up new players and keep them informed about the live casino's events, and should online poker get legalized for cash play in the US, they will be ready with a whole country of players.

In the meantime, you can signup for free and play hundreds of daily tournaments for $100,000 in monthly cash and prizes.

There's no catch - just become a member by providing your email address and accepting the rules and regulations. Must be 21 or older to participate. Good Luck!

Largest Poker Casino in the World

If you didn't know it, the Commerce is the largest poker casino in the world. With over 200 tables, you can get your fill of Texas Hold'em, 7-Card Stud, Omaha, Pot Limit, Mexican Poker, Pineapple, Draw, Low-Ball, and (Poker Gods protect us) Pan.

The Commerce will begin the final major poker tournament of the year on November 2, 2011. The event runs through November 21, and offers tournaments with buy-ins as low as $125 says Jeff Harris, Commerce Casino Manager.

If you know how to play poker, you can give a tournament a shot - but there are some differences to a standard game. The main change is that each player starts with the same number of chips. In addition, the blinds, antes and minimum bets are raised about every 20 minutes.

To win a tournament you have to continually win hands because the limits just keep going up!

Big Bucks for Winning!

This year's L.A. Poker Open will offer guaranteed prize pools of from $25,000 to $600,000 for the Championship Event. The entry fee for the Championship (No-limit Texas Hold'em) is $2085 with an estimated prize of $150,000 for the winner!

You can learn more by calling (323) 721-2100, or checking the Commerce website. The Commerce Casino is located at 6131 East Telegraph Rd., Commerce, CA 90040, just off the Santa Ana (5) Freeway at the Washington Blvd. exit.

Video Poker Blues

I've got the blues right now. I haven't played video poker for a week and I think I've got the bends! I've just got this thing for video poker. In fact, I remember driving across town once with just $7 in cash to play the nickel machines at the Gold Dust West in Reno one night.

It was a day before payday and the Gold Dust had a special room (special is too nice a word, really) where you were rewarded with two cans of soda for a full-house and a six-pack for any four-of-a-kind.

The machines in that little room with the water-stained, drop-down ceiling and the mangy rug were all Jacks-or-Better. I didn't care. All I wanted to do was go in the little hallway and get a candy bar from the vending machine and then hide in the corner playing my machine.

Hide I did, with my measly six-dollars and fifty cents to gamble with. I hid there for about ten minutes until I finally hit a full-house and got two cans of Pepsi.

I had to wait until the attendant verified the hit and handed me the cans and it seemed like forever, the longest two minutes of my life. Then, I was off to the races again in a couple of minutes with a four-of-a-kind and then another full-house. The machines were 9/6 payoff and eventually I had plenty of credits to play on.

By the end of the night I had cashed out $10 in nickels and a porter wheeled four cases of soda and four cases of water to the trunk of my car. I was set for a month.

That may not seem like a big evening, but when you've only got $7 to your name, it's the bomb.

Nowadays I hear the Gold Dust West is very nice inside. I'm not sure anybody does a soda giveaway anymore, but now I prefer Triple Play. And, I almost always go to the Double Double Bonus game. Anybody still play Jacks or Better?
