Spending Where You Earn

Do you spend any money where you earn it? If you work at a restaurant during the day, do you eat there at night / work at the movies, go to the movies / work at Macy's, spend the night there shopping?

Casino employees are notorious for spending much of their tip money in the very place they just earned it. That habit seems most prevalent on swing shift when dealers are sitting at the bar waiting for their tip envelopes to arrive from the toke committee and playing, well, just a little video poker.

Heck, I remember casinos like the Club Cal-Neva and the Sundowner in Reno allowing their employees to gamble during their shift!

That's no lie. Cocktail waitresses too tired to walk down two flights of stairs to the break-room would sit at a favorite slot machine and play the quarters they just earned.

I never did that where I worked. Nope, not me, never did. Of course I did arrive early and place my bets in the sports book so I could check the game scores every break. That's completely different, right?

If I didn't hit my early bets, I'd usually stop at the sports book and make a bet or two on the late games before going home. Yeah, completely different.
